Spring Colors at Vaughan

Milas Embroidered Linen

It’s April now, and everywhere we look there are flowers and bright spring colors. Yellows, blues, and greens sprinkled around your home make it feel fresh and springy.

The Trentham Vase lamp.  One on either side of your sofa on an end table in this pretty robin’s egg blue would look fabulous.

We all completely fell in love with this lamp at Vaughan and should be arriving in our NY Showroom quite soon.  It would really stand out in a blue and white room, don’t you think?  The Tretham Vase in yellow.

Nothing feels more like spring than yellow and green and a light linen.   The Petalus Embroidered Linen is a new summery feeling fabric at Vaughan that we just adore. Come into the showroom and see it in person!

This purple lavender and white lamp has a classic shape but a modern feel with purple brushstroke on it.  The Aegina ceramic lamp also comes in blue and green.

The last thing you need to round out a springy light room is a blue and white rug I think.  This blue and white Kilim is beautiful and super well priced.

Are you ready for Spring yet?  Come visit the Vaughan showroom in the D & D Building and you’ll see how ready we are!

It’s easy being green

Everywhere we look, we are hoping for an end to dreary winter and are welcoming spring.  That means spring colors–and we’ve been seeing them everywhere; shelter magazines and on the red carpet!  At Vaughan we have lots of green to help you welcome spring in, even if it’s a little early…and it’s snowing yet again in New York.

The crackled fishtail vase in apple green is a soft but bright green and looks lovely in both traditional and transitional rooms.

Here is the classic gourd lamp in apple green.  It’s shown without a base but you can have a black, mahogany, or gilt base and it completely changes its look.  It’s a perfect lamp for an end table in a sitting room or living room.

We love this new green sculptural table lamp, the Chablais Vase lamp.  It’s petite and a beautiful color emerald green.

Next stop: Fabric!  Add these as a throw pillow to your sofa, or just reupholster (or slipcover) any piece of furniture with this fun fabric, the Tamba Embroidered Linen in green.  It comes in pink and blue, too!

For more of a light lime mossy color green the Leros Embroidered linen is just gorgeous.  How stunning would these be as drapery in your bedroom or sitting room?

What would your home be like with this sweet little green Pugin Lantern in it?   It would add so much charm and it’s so unexpected.

Do you want to add a little green in your home?  Do you have a client whose living room could use a refreshing apple green lamp or two?

Vaughan at Holiday House 2010

Holiday House is another amazing showhouse, which benefits Susan G Komen.  We were absolutely delighted with how many designers used Vaughan, and how amazing each room looked at the opening.   A few of us from Vaughan went uptown to the Upper East Side (east 63rd street) to take a look.  If you didn’t have a chance to see it, the main highlights are below (everything with Vaughan in it!).

The Verbier Crystal Chandelier is perfectly framed out by the architecture in this room designed by Marcia Tucker.

Here is another view of our beautiful chandelier.  The Verbier Chandelier is also available in a larger size–take a look HERE.   Even with traditional mouldings and architectural elements, this contemporary chandelier fits perfectly. (photos via Marcia Tucker)

We love how Felicia Zwebner of Art de Triomphe used our mirrors above the nightstand!  These are the Fitzwilliam Oval Mirrors. (photo via Art de Triomphe)

Here is the close up.  We have this hung vertically in the showroom and think it looks great hung horizontally too.  For more Venetian mirrors, take a look at our entire collection HERE!

We ADORE this mood board by MH Studio for the Bachelor pad they designed.  The Colvara Wall Light is mounted on in bronze but it is also available in nickel. MH Studio has a blog as well–take a look!

On the left is our Evry Tripod floor lamp.  It looks very pretty in this room by MH Studio, filled with oranges and other brass tones.  This gilt finish lamp is also available in a rust finish HERE.

Each room is so different but they are all gorgeous, don’t you think?  Which one is your favorite?  Not only was this showhouse a treat to look at, but the proceeds go to a great cause, Susan G Komen. Though the showhouse is closed now, you can take a look at their website for more info!

More Vaughan at the Aldyn-Holiday Edition!

In the freezing cold weather it’s nice to go inside to a lovely showhouse like the Aldyn on the Upper West Side to warm up a bit.  Several designers used Vaughan which we were very happy about!  In Jack Levy’s interior, here, you definitely get a feeling of warmth with all the plaids and warm brass tones that he uses.

Menton Hanging Shade in Brass

Plaids are everywhere this season and I think they look just stunning here with our Menton Hanging shade.

The light that comes from all of our hanging shades is great!  It looks quite warm and festive with this fabric.

Menton Hanging Shade in Brass finish

The great thing about our hanging shades is that they can be used for all styles.  A plaid shade, like the ones that Jack Levy used, is great for fall and winter, and a blue shade can be perfect for a house on the Hamptons, or a simple ivory linen or silk for pretty much any other setting!  More hanging shades can be found HERE.

If you just want to change out a shade on a table or floor lamp, we can make custom shades for anything!  Call our NYC showroom and we can help you with any thing you need for the holidays or other seasonal designing!

Holiday Sparkle at Vaughan

Nothing speaks “holidays” like a little bit of sparkle.  Adding just a little bit of it can really brighten up a room during all your many holiday celebrations–Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah, or just a Friday night.

Different metals like a bright brass or a nickel are perfect for adding some holiday flair.  Instead of a traditional red shade, mix it up with a bright pink as on the Aiglon above!

The Woodville Table lamp comes in bronze and nickel and with a fun lampshade on it, it would be the perfect addition to a living room or library while you enjoy a holiday cocktail.

The Boulder table lamp is a beautiful brass sculptural lamp and would bring a wonderful holiday shine to a room.  Maybe with a tartan plaid custom shade?  It also comes in nickel and bronze.

If you want to evoke a winter wonderland feeling, the Twig Table Lamp would be ideal.  It is an organic shape and has many subtle details which makes this lamp very charming.

Imagine this lighting up your living room or over your dining table while enjoying a holiday meal with your family.  The Selwyn Chandelier is one of our newest in the collection.

The great thing is that when the holidays are over, you still have a beautiful room to enjoy–and without the crazy relatives!  Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Vaughan!!

New Products: Ceramic Edition

We started reviewing new products launched last month at FOCUS but this month has been such a whirlwind here at Vaughan with all these events at Fall Market week (see our Bunny Williams book signing for example!), it’s been busy!

Aegina Ceramic Vase in Purple

We’ll continue our new product fun with ceramics.  This cream and purple vase lamp, The Aegina Ceramic Vase in purple,  is sure to warm up any room in this cold weather.

Aegina Ceramic Vase in Blue

The Aegina also comes in a bright and lively watery blue version, too!

Toulon Ceramic Vase

This petite lamp, the Toulon, reminds me of turquoise jewelry–which I absolutely love.  The shape and size of this is perfect for a bedside lamp.

Chablais Ceramic Lamp

The Chablais. These sculptural lamps are so unique and remind me of abstract art.  I love how many different shades of green are on this one lamp–so beautiful!

Briancon Ceramic Lamp

Here is another, taller version of this abstract lamp, the Briancon in brown and cream.

Moselle Ceramic Vase

If you’re looking for something more transitional, the Moselle, a cream vase with a raised design is a beautiful choice.

Bamboo Lear Ceramic Vase

This is a striking twist on a Chinese ceramic lamp with a simple bamboo pattern on it.  The Bamboo Leaf Ceramic Vase is one of my favorite of all the new lamps.

Of course I suggest you see these in person because all of our products are so beautiful and interesting that they are best seen in person. So…which one is your favorite?  Would you use any of these for a client?  Take a look at more of our new products HERE!

Scrapbook for Living Book Signing with Bunny Williams!

Bunny Williams's new book Scrapbook for Living

Yesterday, Vaughan hosted a talk and book signing with Bunny Williams for her excellent new book, Scrapbook for Living.

Bunny Williams speaking about her new book!

In the book, Scrapbook for Living, Bunny was inspired by how people live, organize, and entertain in their homes.  She made the point that homes are for living in and they don’t always stay perfect, but that’s what makes it a home. At the beginning of her talk she emphasized how important lighting is–it can make or break a room!

Bunny with our Vaughan Fabrics

In the Q & A after her talk, Bunny offered very practical advice such as what hangers to use, and how to store linens and bedspreads so they are easily accessed.  She spoke about her amazing and still expanding line BeeLine Home which has great home accessories from faux fur throws to sofa side tables.

Scrapbook for Living by Bunny Williams

After she spoke, Bunny signed books (see book above) as our guests enjoyed some wine, iced tea and cookies!  If you came, you learned a lot from Bunny Williams, but if you didn’t you should purchase her book from Potterton Books!

We thank Bunny very much for coming to the Vaughan Showroom and giving us the pleasure of her company and infinite design wisdom!
